Ormiston Latimer Academy praised in latest Ofsted report
We are pleased to share that Ormiston Latimer Academy has been recognised by Ofsted for providing an inclusive and supportive environment where pupils feel valued, re-engage with learning and are well prepared for their next steps. Our academy, a high-quality alternative provision setting, was among the first schools inspected under Ofsted’s new national inspection framework, which replaces a single overall grade with detailed judgements across key areas of school life.
Following our full inspection in November 2025, Ofsted confirmed that we are meeting the expected standard across all areas, with inclusion and leadership and governance judged to be particularly strong. Inspectors highlighted the impact of this work, noting that pupils are fortunate to attend this school. Here, they mend their relationship with learning, forge trusting relationships with adults and feel valued.
Inspectors highlighted the carefully tailored support provided to pupils, ensuring they develop secure knowledge over time and achieve success. The report also praised regular staff training on adaptive practice, the positive culture created by leaders and the safe, calm and respectful environment across the school.
Pupils’ wider development was also recognised, including opportunities to build confidence and resilience, contribute to shaping their environment such as designing the library and outdoor spaces, and participate in enriching activities including rock climbing, dance and cultural events. Inspectors also highlighted the strong guidance pupils receive for their next steps, including preparation for further education, employment and independent living.

Principal Grant Monaghan said: “We are absolutely delighted that Ofsted has recognised the inclusive culture we have built at Ormiston Latimer Academy and the positive impact this has on our pupils. This report reflects the dedication of our staff, the strength of our partnerships with families and the community, and our shared belief that every young person deserves to feel valued and supported to succeed. While we are proud of how far our pupils have come, we remain firmly focused on continuing to improve outcomes for all.”
Wasim Butt, National Director of AP and Special at Ormiston Academies Trust, added: “Ormiston Latimer Academy plays a vital role in supporting pupils to re-engage with education, and this report recognises the strength of leadership and inclusive practice across the school. We will continue to work closely with the academy as it builds on this strong foundation and sustains the positive impact highlighted by Ofsted.”
