Oak Wood Satellite Provision

Oak Wood, a satellite provision run by Ormiston Latimer Academy, is a new specialist alternative provision (AP) in North Kensington for primary aged pupils. We operate from a purpose-refurbished building and are co-located at Avondale Park Primary School.

We opened in 2026 to support children whose needs cannot be met in mainstream settings, offering a structured environment designed to help pupils re-engage with education. We were developed in close partnership with the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, which commissioned and funded us to add capacity to local alternative educational provision.

We serve pupils from Reception to Year 6, with capacity for 20 pupils at any given time. We primarily serve pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health) needs. Our delivery model is flexible, ambitious and highly personalised. Therapeutic input is embedded within our provision, including access to speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and educational psychology, so pupils receive coordinated support for both their academic and social, emotional needs.

Our curriculum lets all pupils access learning at the stage they are currently working at, whether that is below, at, or beyond their age-expected level. We want all our pupils to have a good understanding of the fundamental key areas in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and maths. We also want our pupils to be confident in exploring, investigating and being creative, developing creative thinking in history, geography and science. Developing life skills is an important part of our curriculum too, delivered throughout, and also directly through cooking, PSHE, RSE and social skills. We use the Engagement Model to support pupils working below Key Stage 1 level, and SCERTS to support pupils’ communication, engagement and regulation.

We have designed our spaces to be sensory-friendly, welcoming and inclusive. Diverse learning zones allow flexibility and support a range of learning preferences, and our room design facilitates collaboration and inclusivity.
